Treatment of small-medium-large sized melanomas with stereotactic radiotherapy. Our research is focussed on characterization of the involved chromosomal regions and the epigenetic mechanism responsible for the enhanced or decreased expression of onco and tumour suppressor genes.

The Department of Ophthalmology at the LUMC, Leiden, is the main ocular oncology center in the Netherlands. It is the only center specializing in local irradiation of ocular tumors with radioactive plaque, which helps to preserve sight. Local treatment with thermotherapy was developed in the LUMC. The center excels in translational research, and there is a very strong link with the department of Clinical Oncology to help those patients with systemic disease, thus offering a complete program to all patients.
